Snaith Primary School

Pupil Premium 23-24

At Snaith Primary School we use our Pupil Premium funding to ensure that there are no differences, or diminishing differences in learning and welfare, between pupils with a disadvantage, in comparison to other pupils nationally with a similar starting point.

It is not the funding itself that will improve progress, but how schools use it. Some children require additional support to help them meet their potential, and the Pupil Premium provides schools with the resources they need to provide that support. Where funding is carefully targeted, UK studies show an impact on attainment gaps for disadvantaged pupils - particularly in English and mathematics. Our school has demonstrated that with effective, appropriate and early intervention, progress is improved.

Barriers to learning in our school

Every child is different, and so are their circumstances, but some common barriers to learning for pupils who are Pupil Premium in our school include:

  • The amount of support that is available at home.
  • Language and communication skills.
  • A lack of confidence
  • Behavioural difficulties/needs
  •  Complex family situations that affect how well a child flourishes. This can sometimes be for a short period of time but can also be long running and stressful for the child.
  • Aspirations, including attendance.

Our aim is to ensure that we quickly identify the needs of the child and match the support required to suit their needs and circumstances, carefully tracking their progress and development. The assessment procedures shows us that our school is effective in narrowing the gaps and diminishing differences in progress and attainment over time.
