Hiya guys!
I hope you’re all ok and have had a fab week. The weather has been amazing, hasn’t it? I have loved seeing your photos and ‘wow’ work on the website; looks like you’re having fun!
Last week, I completed the 5km running challenge to raise money for Captain Tom Moore’s NHS charity. What a guy! What a feat! Surely you’ve seen him on Newsround?! I hope you’re managing to tune in, I miss beating you all on the Friday quiz haha!
Our theme this week is coasts. Here are some topic examples for you to follow:
Geography
Flamborough Coastal Erosion –the 4 processes
Have you ever been to Flamborough head on the East Coast? It is stunning! The cliffs there are white because they are made of chalk. But the cliffs are being eroded away by the sea - but how? Have a watch of these two great videos of coastal erosion and find out!
Real life video at Flamborough:

Diagram video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV2HOfcCJaM
YOUR TASK: Draw a diagram and label it that shows the 4 processes of coastal erosion.
Take note of the ‘solution’ process as you will use this for your science task!
Science
Making a Bouncy Egg!
So now you know about the 4 erosive processes at the seaside, let’s have a look at the solution process.
At Flamborough, the calcium carbonate (chalk) is being dissolved away by the actions of the seawater.
You can do the same with an egg! Try making a BOUNCY EGG!
Watch this video and find out how and what’s going on!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I5bhUwm1t0
YOUR TASK: Make a pic collage (or similar) of the process and outcome of making your bouncy egg.
Challenge: Can you add some scientific notes to explain what is happening?
English
Short story of no more than 200 words
Have ever been to the beach and found a strange looking stone with a hole in it? This is the type of stone that has inspired much folklore over the ages! Read this article and watch the video within it (Weird Suffolk: Witch Stones) to find out about the incredible folklore surrounding these hag stones – it’s fascinating!
https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/weird-suffolk-stones-folklore-magic-1-6244139
YOUR TASK: To write a short, weird tale that includes a hag stone. Now you need to practice reading it out loud to yourself. Find somewhere quiet and try to put in some expression. If you are feeling confident, settle everyone down with a hot drink, dim the lights and read your story for an enchanted evening!
*You might want to complete your GPS tasks on Doodle, ‘expressing time and place using adverbs’ to help you vary your sentence starters! THINK: can I include: Time connectives, adverbs (ly), ambitious adjectives and powerful verbs to entertain my audience? How about some punctuation to build tension… Elispsis! Dramatic dashes! Rhetorical Questions!*
Art
Time to get arty! Yay! Have a look at this video! The colours are fabulous!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo1bWX0cIog
YOUR TASK: To paint or draw, colour or collage a seascape in any art materials you have. Be creative! Follow the video (you may need to stop and start it!) but make this work your own! Have fun! Now display it where everyone can appreciate your talent! Take a pic! Send it in to the snaith.primary2020@gmail.com and hopefully you will see it on the website!
