Hello!
Today we want you to think like a geographer about what makes a good settlement (place to settle and live).
Look at the Settlement Factors PDF (uploaded at the bottom) and copy out each of the factors for a good settlement.
For each one, draw a small picture and copy out the text, adding in the missing words from the word bank at the top.
Next, look at the diamond activity (uploaded below) from Twinkl.
Can you decide where to put each of the phrases to order them from most to least important when choosing where to settle? Most important is at the top down to least important at the bottom. The ones next to each other are of equal importance.
There is no right or wrong answer, but you need to be able to explain why you have chosen where to put them!
You could ask someone else in your family what they think – do they agree with you?
Write up your diamond in your book and explain how and why you have chosen the most important factor at the top of the diamond.

To think about: What do the root words ‘phone’ and ‘real’ mean and how are these meanings changed by adding prefixes (a group of letters at the beginning of the word) and suffixes (a group of letters at the end of the word) to them? What do the prefixes micro, tele, homo and un mean?
