Homework:

Reading

Our reading books need to be in school every day so that they are available for individual reading with an adult. There will be opportunities to read these books on a daily basis and children may be asked to read to an adult at various times of the week. When a child has finished their reading book, they need to return it to school and sign it back in. We ask that children complete 15 minutes of reading at home at least 4 times per week please.

Can your children ensure that their reading records are returned every Friday, so that they can be checked in school.

Reading Plus, our exciting online reading programme, also compliments the children's independent free-choice reading. It gives a personalised programme for children to work on their reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. We are very excited to use this both in school and for our reading homework each week. Children each have an individual login for Reading Plus which they have brought home.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home each Friday for the children to access from home, where they can be practised before the test the next Friday. They can also use the online tool 'Spelling Frame' to practise their spellings as well. We will, of course, also be teaching and practising the different spelling rules each week in class, before the spelling test. We are very grateful for all extra support that you give with your child's spelling as a strong partnership between home and school definitely helps to get the best results!

Maths

Every Friday the children will be given a maths sheet to complete, this will be expected to be completed the following Friday. Also, the children will be expected to spend 30 minutes a week or two books each week on Reading Plus. In addition, it would be great if the children could spend some time each week practising their Times Tables Rock Stars. There will also be spellings to practise each week. We will notify children of their homework tasks in class

Mrs Clarkson will be checking online to see that the homework has been completed. If anyone needs any extra help with the task, or with accessing the work online, we will provide time in school to make sure that everyone has a chance to complete their online work each week.

Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Frame

All children have their own personal logins for Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Frame. They are fantastic resources for the children to practise learning essential facts in a fun and exciting way online. Children will access TT Rock Stars and Spelling Frame from school and as part of their homework, using their individual login details. These have been sent home for each child. Please do contact us if you have any questions about either Spelling Frame or TT Rock Stars.

Our Happy Team

We really work together as a team to make our classroom a very happy and exciting place to work. We all work hard to carry out our monitor jobs with pride, as well as celebrating each other's achievements.

We are looking forward to working with your wonderful children and yourselves too.
