This week’s attendance 95.75%

Young Voices

On Monday evening, our school choir will be performing in Sheffield Arena.  The children are joining other schools from around the country and are rehearsing as one choir for the first time, they will then be taking part in the most amazing concert, produced by the UK’s leading sound and light companies with special guest artists that are sure to raise the roof of the arena.  Well done to all the children taking part, they have been learning the songs and rehearsing for several weeks. This will be a very memorable occasion for them all.

Attendance Letters

Attendance letters for the autumn term were sent home last week. If you have not received this, please check your child’s bag.  Our termly meeting with the Education Welfare Officer has taken place and if your child’s attendance is below 90% this has been discussed.  Thank you to the parents who have contacted us to make an appointment.  If we are aware of your child having a medical condition or specific regular appointments which affects their attendance, there is no need to contact school.

Driving Along Bourn Mill Balk Road

During morning drop off, I would urge parents to ‘informally’ implement a one-way system on entering Bourn Mill Balk Road, from Pontefract Road and exiting via South Parkway/St Lawrence Avenue in an attempt to ease congestion and prevent ‘snarl ups’ which then blocks traffic, especially at times of heaviest traffic.  Thank you.

PTA

A letter from the PTA

Dear parents / carers,

You will hopefully be aware of the fantastic work your PTA are doing to raise funds for our school. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about the match funding scheme and how a little bit of your time could raise double the funds for the PTA.

If you work for an organisation that has a match funding policy, any money you raise could be matched by your employer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Usually, the employee will need to supply them with a letter from the PTA detailing the date and nature of the event, together with the total raised.

We understand that the high street banks, building societies, supermarkets and large corporations are likely to do match funding, but these schemes are not exclusive to the major corporate giants. If you work for an independent company, they may be interested in charitable giving through match funding too.

We would be grateful if you could see if your employer has a match funding scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events. If you can’t help out this time, but you know the company you work for has a match funding policy, please let us know. This could be a really large source of income for the PTA and help us raise money for additional resources and activities for the children at Snaith Primary School.

If you are able to help us this way, please email snaithpta@hotmail.com to let us know and we can discuss your companies’ requirements.

Thank you for your support

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical).  https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77

Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking.  Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.

As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.

Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks.

We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern.  Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.

(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
